Prosper is an Arts Council England-funded business support programme for the arts, museums and libraries led by Creative United.
The pilot round took place 2017-18 and offered the opportunity for 70 arts and cultural organisations, companies and individual entrepreneurs in England to participate in nine months of free, dynamic and impactful business support activities to improve resilience, commercial capacity and investment readiness.
I was appointed as a business advisor and webinar host for the programme. I supported arts and cultural organisations to review their plans for the future. This included exploring areas such developing vision and refining ambition, writing business plans, testing commercial development ideas, reviewing earned income opportunities, exploring how to build capacity and improve time management, and developing customer insight to drive future growth.

Alongside the pilot training and support, the Centre for Business in Society carried out vital research into the provision of, and demand for, business support for arts and cultural organisations in England and Scotland. The learning from this, plus business support resources such as templates, toolkits and blogs, is being shared via CultureHive.co.uk/prosper
Additional funding for the programme is provided by Access – the Foundation for Social Investment, and Creative Scotland (for research activities in Scotland).
